Inanga Barn Owl – Steps

inanga pounamu

I carved this barn owl out of a swirly inanga/olive chatoyant Pounamu. As I normally do with pieces like this I placed the head in the clear parts of the stone and the body shows off all the interesting bits.

Inanga is the name for silvery/grey Pounamu. It often has a olive glow when back lit and has olive mixed in with it like this piece.

I used a silver marker a lot when carving detail. You can see as I go its a constant flow of marking, carving, remarking etc.
